Anambra: Police arrest ‘notorious kidnapper’ recover weapons

The Anambra police command says its operatives have arrested Pablo Mamu, a notorious kidnapper, in the Ihiala area of the state.

Tochukwu Ikenga, the police spokesperson in Anambra, said in a statement on Thursday that operatives also recovered one OFN rifle, a locally made pistol, live 9mm ammunition, eight live cartridges, and one black Lexus 330 Jeep with different plate numbers.

According to the spokesperson, the suspect was arrested following credible intelligence that was utilized by a joint team of the police and the Anambra vigilante group.

He added that Nnaghe Itam, the commissioner of police in Anambra, commended the operatives for their efforts while calling for stronger synergy between the agencies.

Ikenga noted that the commissioner stressed the importance of continued collaboration to ensure the safety and security of all residents during and after this festive season.”

We had reported how a lawmaker in the state was kidnapped on Christmas Eve by suspected gunmen. This achievement through arresting and neutralizing this notorious kidnap is a great milestone in curbing insecurity in the state.
