Application for MTN scholarship 2024 is now open for interested and high-performing students at the 300 level of their study. It is available for University students as well as those in Polytechnic. It is in two categories: the MTN Science and Technology Scholarship Scheme (MTN STSS) and the MTN Scholarship Scheme for Blind Students (MTN SSBS).
The MTN Scholarship program is designed to recognize and reward academic excellence among Nigerian students. It provides financial assistance to deserving students, enabling them to pursue their dreams without the burden of financial constraints.
Each year, MTN Nigeria awards scholarships to a selected number of students who have excelled in their interviews.
Eligibility Criteria for MTN Scholarship
To be eligible for the MTN Scholarship, students must meet certain criteria. Firstly, they must be Nigerian citizens and be enrolled in any recognized public tertiary institution in the country.
Additionally, applicants must have at least a cumulative grade point average (CGPA) of 3.5 or its equivalent (second-class upper/upper credit). Meeting these criteria ensures the scholarship is awarded to students with exceptional academic performance.
A. Institution of Study
- The MTN Science and Technology Scholarship (STS) and MTN Scholarship for Blind Students (SBS) are open to Nigerian students in Nigerian public tertiary institutions (universities, polytechnics, and colleges of education).
B. Course of Study
- The MTN Science and Technology Scholarship (STS) is open to 300 level students studying science & technology-related courses, in Nigerian public tertiary institutions (universities, polytechnics, and colleges of education).
- The MTN Scholarship for Blind Students (SBS) is open to 200 & 300-level blind students studying any course in Nigerian public tertiary institutions (universities, polytechnics, and colleges of education).
C. Level of Study
MTN Science and Technology Scholarship (STS):
The application is open to students who have completed their second semester 200 level examinations going to the 300 level and students currently in their 300 level as we understand that the academic calendar is not aligned across all public tertiary institutions.
The MTN Scholarship for Blind Students (SBS):
The application is open to 200 & 300-level blind students in any Nigerian Public Tertiary Institutions (Universities, Polytechnics, and Colleges of Education). However, for blind students studying Law, which is a 5-year course, only 300 level students can apply for the MTN Scholarship.
D. Cumulative Grade Point Average (CGPA)
The MTN Science and Technology Scholarship (STS):
- STEM Students in Public Universities and Colleges of Education must have a minimum Cumulative Grade Point Average (CGPA) score of 3.0/4 or 3.5/5 (second-class upper credit)
- STEM Students in Public Polytechnics must have a minimum Cumulative Grade Point Average (CGPA) of 3.0 (upper credit) from the Ordinary National Diploma (OND) Program and must have secured admission into the Higher National Diploma (HND) Program.
- Direct-level STEM students must have a minimum CGPA of 3.0 (upper credit) from the Ordinary National Diploma (OND) program and must have secured admission into 300 level/3rd year in a Public University.
MTN Scholarship for Blind Students (SBS):
- Blind Students in universities or Colleges of Education must have a minimum Cumulative Grade Point Average (CGPA) of 2.5
- Blind Students in Public Polytechnics must have a minimum Cumulative Grade Point Average (CGPA) of 2.0 from the Ordinary National Diploma (OND) Program and must have secured admission into the Higher National Diploma (HND) Program.
