The SBW Berlin Scholarship 2025 is now accepting applications. International students and young people from other countries who are already socially engaged are eligible for the SBW Berlin Germany scholarship. They will use the skills they gain during their studies to develop social or non-profit projects at social institutions or non-profit organizations back home.
scholarships from SBW Berlin are given to students wishing to enroll in bachelor’s or master’s degree programs at universities or universities of applied sciences (Fachhochschule) in Berlin or Potsdam. Scholarships are awarded based on professional qualities, personal suitability, and financial need. All fields of study, including social science and the arts, are theoretically fundable.

Who Can Apply for the SBW Berlin Scholarship?
foreign nationals, whose native nations seem to require more support for growth. holders of a residency permit or a student visa for Germany who intend to enroll in or complete a course of study there
Applicants who are already receiving funding for their studies in Germany from another scholarship are not eligible to apply. Assistance provided under the Federal Education Assistance Act (BAföG) is an exception to this norm. In this instance, the scholarship amount is modified by the BAföG allowance.
SBW Berlin Germany Scholarship Benefits
For the duration of the scholarship, the maximum funding period is equivalent to the regular period of the study program, SBW Berlin covers the necessary living expenses of the scholarship recipients. The
scholarship includes:
- a furnished room in shared student flats in Berlin
- cost-of-living allowance is currently 480 Euro per month
- tuition fees
- possibly also a travel contribution for the journey to Berlin before the start of the course of study and for the journey home after successful completion of the course
Only once the scholarship recipient moves into the shared student housing may the first payments be made. SBW Berlin typically disapproves of part-time work.
Only non-counting benefits may be awarded to applicants who receive assistance under the Federal Education Assistance Act (BAFöG). When determining the allowance, the accommodation’s financial worth must be considered.
These candidates often only get a book allowance, or “flat rate,” of up to 100 euros per month.

A letter of recommendation from a non-profit or social institution is requested as confirmation of the applicant’s social commitment when applying for the award.
